Jaw CT scan

Open every day: Mon–Sat 8:00–19:00 · Sun 10:00–18:00

From a single area to both jaws together with the maxillary sinuses. We choose the field of view so that you do not pay for more than you need and do not have to repeat the scan because of missing data.

A “jaw CT scan” is the same 3D scan as any other; the only question is the field of view — how much tissue is captured. That determines both the price and whether the scan gives your doctor everything they need.

Which field of view to choose

Field of viewWhen it is usedPrice
SegmentAn area of 1–3 teeth. One problem root, one implant site, a check-up after root canal treatmentUAH 790
One jawPlanning several implants in one jawfrom UAH 990
Both jawsOrthodontics, prosthetics, full rehabilitation — whenever the bite has to be seen as a wholeUAH 1 290
Both jaws, separated + panoramic imageA lot of metal in the mouth, maximum detail neededUAH 1 390
Both jaws + one jaw with the sinusesSinus lift, upper implants, suspected odontogenic sinusitisUAH 1 590
Both jaws + TMJThe bite together with the joint: clicking, pain, limited openingUAH 1 790

If you are not sure which field of view your doctor prescribed — call 067 478 87 78 and read the prescription out to us. That is quicker than repeating the scan, and cheaper than taking a larger volume “just in case”.

What a jaw CT scan shows

  • The thickness and height of the bone at a specific point — this is where any implant plan begins.
  • Bone density. It determines whether an implant can be placed straight away or whether bone grafting is needed first.
  • The mandibular canal — exactly where the nerve runs. In the lower jaw this is critical: damage to the nerve causes lasting numbness of the lip.
  • The maxillary sinuses — their floor, the thickness of the lining, and their relationship with the roots of the upper teeth.
  • Impacted teeth — teeth that have not erupted and sit sideways in the bone.
  • Cysts and granulomas, which on a panoramic image overlap other structures.

Is metal in the mouth a problem?

Crowns, posts and metal-ceramic work create streak artefacts on the scan. The Planmeca ProMax has an algorithm that suppresses them, and in most cases that is enough. If there is a great deal of metal, we will suggest the separated-jaws protocol — each jaw is scanned as its own volume, so the neighbouring jaw no longer washes out the picture.

Radiation exposure

The unit chooses the dose itself, to match the patient's height and build, so the figure varies: 10–15 µSv per study. The annual dose a person receives from background radiation alone is about 4,000 µSv. So a CT of both jaws is roughly 0.4% of what you will receive over a year anyway, and less than a few hours on a plane.

How you receive your scan

Straight after the scan — not “call back tomorrow”. Three ways, and they work together:

  • A link emailed to you and, if needed, to your doctor. It never expires — we have kept our patients' scans since 2022, so in three years' time you will be able to open the same link and compare.
  • A USB Type-C drive — free of charge with a CT of both jaws. If you do not need the drive, the study costs UAH 300 less.
  • A printout — for the panoramic image.

The format is DICOM plus a viewer that opens without installing anything. Any dentist will be able to open the file, even without specialist software of their own.

We take the scan and hand it over — the report and the treatment plan are made by your own doctor, because the decision depends on the clinical picture they see in the chair. If you do not have a doctor of your own, you can show the scan to the head doctor at Houston — with a CT of both jaws that consultation is free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

UAH 1 290 including the USB Type-C drive. Without the drive it is UAH 990, and the link to your scan still never expires.

By the field of view. A segment (UAH 790) covers an area of 1–3 teeth and is used when the question is local: one problem root, one implant site. A CT of both jaws is needed when several implants, orthodontic treatment or prosthetics are being planned — that is, when the whole bite has to be seen.

A protocol in which the upper and lower jaw are scanned as separate volumes rather than as one. This gives fewer metal artefacts and more detail in each jaw. It costs UAH 1 390 including a panoramic image.

Before a sinus lift and before implants in the upper back teeth, and also when odontogenic sinusitis is suspected — inflammation of the sinus caused by a tooth. The “both jaws + one jaw with the sinuses” protocol costs UAH 1 590.

The scan is ready as soon as the scanning is over. We email you the link and hand you the USB drive.
